DIRECTOR - GROUP CONSOLIDATION & FINANCIAL POLICIES ~ Telecom Operator in Qatar

We are looking for “DIRECTOR, GROUP CONSOLIDATION & FINANCIAL POLICIES” for a fulltime opening with our client’s office in Doha, Qatar. Client is biggest GSM Telecom Operator in Qatar.

Department / Section: Financial Controlling

Reporting to: Financial Controller

Purpose:

Manages financial reporting including Group consolidation and Group finance policies effectively and proactively to conform with generally accepted accounting principles for reporting to senior management, stock exchange and shareholders

Context:

The role holder works closely with the Group and OpCo finance teams. The role holder

Ø Understands complex financial accounting treatments, IFRS and group consolidation principles

Ø Oversee group financial policies including developing financial policies and procedures.

Ø Develops and provides decision support analysis using existing reporting tools and assists in enhancing these tools.

Ø Helps in reviewing the M&A deals having financial, accounting and shareholder implications

Ø Reviews the financial statements of OpCos and SPVs

ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES

· Manages the group consolidation and financial reporting activities. Ensures timely as well as quality of group financial reporting without any audit qualification.

· Ensures that Monitoring and controlling of information flows from OpCos in a manner to achieve timely, complete and accurate reporting.

· Oversees the review of financial statements of OpCos and advises on group consolidation principles having strong understanding and knowledge of IFRS.

· Understands the relevant IFRS implications for the group and provides the necessary guidance to accounting team and OpCos.

· Reviews and ensures updation of the group financial policies as well as the financial policies at the relevant OpCos, in compliance of good corporate governance.

· Reviews and timely updates of financial authority matrices for the group as well as OpCos.

· Provides management with regular as well as custom financial reports, which are key to the decision-making process.

· Reviews the shareholder agreements having financial obligations and proactively recommends to management suitable actions to be taken.

· Manages the audit & statutory reporting of intermediary holding companies and management companies within the Group

· Periodically evaluates adequacy of financial reporting tools and ensures implementation of suitable solutions to meet changing requirements

· Liaises with Legal and Finance colleagues of the group and OpCo finance teams.

· Assists in planning on finance and accounting aspects of the Group’s business proposals and M&A activities.

· Liaises with external auditors where required.

· Other ad hoc duties as assigned

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS

· Manage the group consolidation and reporting functions to ensure timely, relevant and accurate reporting

· Review of financial statement of OpCos and highlighting significant issues in balance sheet and cash flows

· Review of shareholder agreements and reports to management on accounting and financial implications

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE

Minimum 12 years of post qualification experience out of which at least 5 years managing complex group consolidation (specifically in Telecom domain)

· Post qualification experience in big 4 audit firms will be an added advantage

ROLE-BASED QUALIFICATIONS

· Bachelor Degree in Finance or Accounting with professional qualification like CA, ACCA, CIMA, CMA or CPA.

KEY RELATIONSHIPS:

Role reports to: Financial Controller

Liaises with Finance and Taxation teams in OpCos, Auditors, Group Legal and M&A team

DECISION MAKING AUTHORITY:

It is a group support role and implementing and overseeing the group financial and reporting matters.

Role holder is not a cost centre head and does not have financial authorities.

SKILLS

TECHNICAL & NON- TECHNICAL

· Ability to demonstrate the skills required for managing a finance team and technical finance skills.

· IFRS knowledge

· Experience in telecom finance

OTHERS

· Working knowledge in Excel, word and Power Point

· Knowledge of ERP systems like Oracle, added advantage
