Position: HSSE Superintendent
Location:
Responsibilities:
Ø Ensure that all ships are in compliance to vessel safety and environmental protection procedures and requirements – implementation and maintenance of the company’s safety management system / ISO system
Ø Review the SMS m
Ø Review the Ships bi-monthly SMR / VSC reports
Ø Providing the link/interface between ship and shore for matters relating to safe operation of the vessel and any instruction with regard to this.
Ø Maintain / recor
Ø Ensure that deficiencies observed are reported to the Management as appropriate and timely.
Ø Partner as a member for investigation on accidents and injuries and review corrective actions for such accidents and injuries
Ø Partner the fleet operations team to establish programs for emergency drills and exercises
Ø Review where necessary revise the emergency preparedness and response procedures, subsequent to a shore base
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Education: SPM (STPM ideally)
Qualifications: Deg in Transport or
Years Experience: Essential to have sound tanker experience of at least 3 years in the industry and at least 2 years in a senior rank capacity in either deck or the engineering department.

Knowledge:
Fully conversant in rules and regulations statutory governing the industry in addition to the high demanding requirements of the Oil Majors.
Have had exposures in a wide scope of marine and shipping related industries
Preferably to have sound training in investigation techniques and the ability to evaluate situations and affect safe barriers against any untoward occurrences.
(Ideally: The position requires a high knowledge and experience in the operation and safety management of Tanker vessels in order to be effective in implementing, monitoring and executing safe practices.)
Skills: A good command in written and spoken English to be able to deal with the Oil Majors primarily located in the
Ability to manage, control, supervises and trains others to develop their potential to obtain results by integrating individual efforts.
(Ideally: Human relations, interpersonal and communication skills plus tact are very essential and important in order to be able to interact effectively with fleet personnel and personnel from other shipping companies.)
Personal Attributes: Ability to create and maintain good working relationship with other members of Oil Majors and related government departments.
